( NACK5 ) This is a rough translation of the 16 minute interview clip available on NACK5's webpage. The video is a stream file and I watched it only once (thanks to my 56K dial-up) so the translation is based on what I recall from the clip and may not be in order. It won't be word for word but contains all necessary content. Text in bold represents the interviewer. ISSHI : Well, we are a Japanese styled band. You're saying that since the beginning, you guys have chosen to wear the kimono? ISSHI : Yes. It's a way to express our style. We have a stylist who helps us choose what we should wear and besides the kimono we usually have one more set of costumes. I see. So anyway Isshi, I heard that you have two dogs? ISSHI : Yes, I do. One is called Gucci and the other is Vivian. Brand names...they must be very fancy looking.*laugh* ISSHI : Aaa...no, they're actually very dull looking. I also heard that all of you own MACs. Is that true? ISSHI : That is true. What do you use it for? ISSHI : For a lot of things from music composition to designing. However there are some of us who doesn't know how to use it at all. Just own it... Who? ISSHI : For example, our bassist over here...Nao. NAO : I actually use it to burn my music. But that doesn't work on my MAC. The software doesn't seem to be compatible with the system. Is it an old model? ISSHI : No, he just bought it like half a year ago. It's really new. There is a way for us to actually use it but then it's really troublesome so we decided to not bother. So now it's just acting as deco in his room. Hmm...but do you all really need to have MACs? ISSHI : Yes. Now back to your new conceptual album, [gozen] which was just released on 11 December. It comes with a story doesn't it? ISSHI : Yes it does and you won't be able to enjoy it without reading the story. You'll have to listen and know the story to be able to understand the concept of this album. You mean to say that each track continues to tell one story? Then how about the setlist of your Lives? ISSHI : We go from Track 1 to 10 accordingly. Ah. Kagrra also just finished a Christmas Live event at Takadanobaba if I'm not mistaken...tell us about that event. NAO : Yes, that's right. We wore suits during that event just because we felt like it. It was a last minute idea but then most of the activities during that event were impromptu. We also had an acoustic live. We'll take a break now and let's listen to Track 3 of [gozen]...Ah, we're not following the track sequence here but this is [Ihokyo] from [gozen]. Now, let's talk about your 2003 resolutions. I have given the each of you a paper to draw your new year's resolutions during the interval. It's time to tell us what you want to achieve in 2003. We'll start with Isshi. ISSHI : This is embarrassing. I don't think you'll even understand the picture...I don't want to show this... Come on. Just show it already! (Isshi shows his paper that has a drawing of a hand holding the Earth) ISSHI : I didn't know how to draw the World map. I started drawing Japan first and then I got confused about where the other countries were supposed to be. *laugh* So what is this supposed to mean? You want to take over the world? ISSHI : Well, something like that, but in a musical way. I wish for people across the globe to be able to enjoy and benefit from Kagrra's music. The world is very big and it would be good to be able to reach out to them with our music. In fact, we just met with a French reporter a while back and even though she was able to speak some Japanese, we were unable to comprehend her at all. She just couldn't connect to us. So, I wish to be able to connect with the world with Kagrra. Now what about you Nao? (Nao shows his paper with a drawing of a motorbike license with a tiny picture of a motorbike beneath it) Ah, you want to get a bike license? But what's that tiny thing underneath the license in your drawing? NAO : Oh, that's the motorcycle. I thought that since I couldn't draw it I might as well make it really small. *laugh* You already have a car license don't you? NAO : Yes, I do and that is why I want to also get a motorbike one. Actually, I want to be the wind (in 2003) but since that is impossible I guess riding the motorbike will be good enough. (audience break into laughter) NAO : Hey, this is not a laughing matter!! I am serious here. Lastly, Izumi. (shows drawing of him in a tub full of money) IZUMI : You know, at the back of magazines, there are always advertisements on how you can be rich and all... I always dream to be rich and this year I hope to be able to bathe in a tub full of money. |
